Currently, Vocera Analytics roles can restrict which dashboards and reports a user can access, but there is no ability to restrict the departments, units, or groups that a user can view within those reports.
Requested Enhancement
Allow administrators to assign department, unit, or group-level permissions to users or roles.
Support row-level security so users only see data for their assigned departments/groups.
Healthcare Use Case We would like to provide Clinical Managers with direct access to Vocera Analytics dashboards and reports while limiting visibility to only the departments and groups they manage.
For example:
Manager A can view only Nursing Units A and B.
Manager B can view only Emergency Department data.
Diagnostic Imaging Manager can view only Diagnostic Imaging data.
Administrators can retain full access.
Why Scheduled Reports Are Not an Ideal Solution While scheduled report distribution can provide filtered information to managers, it does not provide a self-service analytics experience. Our organization would like managers to securely access dashboards and reports directly while being restricted to only the departments and groups they oversee.
Users must search through email to locate reports.
Reports are often overlooked or ignored after delivery.
Scheduled distribution increases email traffic and report administration.
Users cannot interactively explore dashboards, adjust filters, or view current data on demand.
Modern analytics platforms typically allow secure dashboard access with role-based and data-level security rather than relying on email distribution.
