Currently on the Vina app when staff open the app, the screen that appears is the last screen they used before leaving. It would be helpful visually if the first screen to appear was the same one (Home screen) every time. It would give a consistent flow for the user to navigate.

I agree! Return to prior location when interrupted by a call. When away for X amount of time, return to home screen. Certainly for timeout's (30 minutes at UCLA).
We'll need to add a time dependency here:
It is desirable to go back to the prior location in the app for short interruptions e.g. third party call
Once away from the app for X amount of time, it does make sense to return to the home screen
